Atmo-stabilizer is a device used during the process of terraforming to help create a human-breathable atmosphere on celestial bodies that lack it.

It utilizes a 3-step stabilization process:

  • Suction of toxic gases (e.g. SO2 and CO2)
  • Suction of excess non-hazardous gases that are known to be lethal on higher proportions (this includes reducing oxygen concentration to 15-30% when it detects excess oxygen)
  • Nitrogen and oxygen release to ensure 4:1 nitrogen-oxygen proportion (in case of the lack of nitrogen and/or oxygen)

These devices are easy to manufacture, thus, on many terraforming projects, thousands of these are utilized to create a breathable atmosphere efficiently.

Overview[]

Usage[]

Multiple atmo-stabilizers are put in a single planet connected to a closed internet connection provided by an onsite satellite. This allows the devices to communicate with each other and give accurate approximations of the current atmospheric pressure. The device is to be powered with high-capacity solar cells to ensure prolonged usage, with backup batteries in case of solar cell malfunctions or failure. If the device detects it's running on backup power, it will transmit signals to alert the nearby active terraforming stations to repair or replace it.

Potential hazards[]

When used improperly, there is a chance that the device will release excessive amounts of oxygen that are lethal. When this occurs, all devices on-site have to be reset in order to prevent unwanted consequences.
