Barnard's Star is a red subdwarf that's located 6 light years away from the Sun. It is the closest subdwarf to Earth and one of the star systems that have been successfully colonized.

Background[]

Due to unpromising early observations performed in the 20th-21st centuries, commercial space research company SpaceX decided to deploy ASA modules to search for celestial bodies on the star due to its close distance from Earth. After a few days into the mission, it successfully detected seven celestial bodies orbiting around the star, as well as their moons. The planets are designated Barnard's Star b, c, d, e, f, and g.

Further study shows that one of the moons, Barnard's Star e1, is an Earth-like exoplanet that could potentially support life. SpaceX immediately launched several terraforming missions in 10 years, and it has been proven to be successful. Currently, Barnard's Star e1 is colonized by both the SpaceX research team as well as people who signed up for the colonization program, including NASA's scientists, with a population of 17,103.

A few years later, SpaceX made a research study to see if Earth's desert plants could survive in Barnard's Star d, a desert planet. This appears to be true, and the planet is currently inhabited by several types of cactus plants.

Temperature anomalies[]

Barnard's Star appears to have an unbalanced temperature distribution on each planets. The variation could be as much as hundreds of degrees Celsius due to extreme greenhouse effects, but currently the cause of it is unknown.

List of planets[]

  • Barnard's Star b
  • Barnard's Star c
  • Barnard's Star d
  • Barnard's Star e
  • Barnard's Star f
  • Barnard's Star g

Barnard's Star b[]

The closest plant from the star. It is heavily bombarded with radiation due to its distance.

Barnard's Star c[]

The second closest planet.

Barnard's Star d[]

The third planet. It is a desert with life brought from Earth for study purposes.

Barnard's Star e[]

The closest giant. Hosts an inhabited Earth-like moon, designated "e1"

Barnard's Star f[]

An extremely huge ice giant previously undetected by earlier obsevations that currently holds the record of being the biggest ice giant discovered.

Barnard's Star g[]

The star's only gas giant as well as its farthest planet.
