The Free Games Notifier server is a Discord server created by the wiki's founder, Drek'TharSuperSword, to help notify people when a game goes free for a limited time, be it on Steam, Origin, Humble, GOG, etc. It is open for everyone and requires no extra verifications to join.
You can join the server by clicking "Connect" on the Discord sidebar.
How it works[]
Essentially, the whole notifier thing is just an IFTTT webhook assigned to the appropriate channels. The IFTTT hook is a simple command to check for new posts on Reddit's /r/FreeGameFindings and /r/FreeGamesOnSteam, along with some extra site filters for webhooks assigned to specific channels (e.g. Steam games searches for posts containing store.steampowered.com URL).
Please note that because of how simple the script is, the webhook might also send miscellaneous things from the server such as PSAs or weekly discussion threads. You may mute the #free-game-notifs-unfiltered if you don't want to get bothered by this, although this will also suppress all real notifications from that channel.
Beware that some "free" games might actually be shovelware. That is, games that are made with little to no effort ("asset flips", achievement farms, poorly made games, etc). You can check out some of these shovelware titles and "developers" here.
